DIY Support Service

£500 (from)

Our DIY Support Service is perfect for those who wish to organise the funeral of their friend or family member – entirely independently of a funeral director. Do it yourself funerals can be an empowering experience and enables individuals to create a truly inclusive and moving occasion for their family members and close friends.

If like some, you would like to take responsibility for the care, legal documentation, funeral arrangements and logistics but you need a little help moving your loved one on the day of the funeral, then we can help you.

Our DIY Support Service provides you with the lifting and transportation of the person who has died. We will take them to a crematorium or approved grave space within West Yorkshire on the day of the funeral. Once your loved-one arrives at the funeral venue, you will continue by carrying the coffin from our vehicle and running the funeral.

To Receive our DIY Support Service, You Must Have:

• Advised and agreed with Leeds Bereavement Services (or other local authority), crematorium or burial ground, that you will be fully responsible for the facilitation of the funeral, in the absence of a funeral director
• Correctly completed and filed the relevant documentation, with the relevant authority, in good time
• Arranged a conventional solution for cool, safe, storage and care of your friend or relative, from the date of death until and including the day of the funeral
• Provided us with the correct documentation, allowing the person who has died to be collected and transferred by us, on your behalf
• Given us accurate measurements, to enable us to purchase the correct sized coffin (if required)
• Provided us with any relevant information about anything which may restrict or affect the collection of your friend or relative
• Allowed us to conduct a site inspection and health and safety assessment of the preparation space and coffin collection point, in advance of the funeral date
• Confirmed the opening or access time of the mortuary, chapel of rest, private home or other place of storage, so that we can arrange collection and timely arrival at the funeral venue

Our DIY Support Service Includes:

• Two members of our team to carefully lift and place the person who has died into their coffin and then onto our vehicle
• Transportation by private ambulance to a crematorium or other approved place of interment
• If you would like us to clean and dress the person, you must have checked in advance with the place of death, that they can adequately accommodate our attendance, in good time, on the day of the funeral.

The fee for the DIY Support Service must be paid in full, prior to the date of the funeral.

*This service requires approval by us in advance of the funeral date and as such, it is subject site inspection and health and safety assessment.

**We can help you also if your friend or relative is outside West Yorkshire - mileage will apply to these journeys.

***Should you require a standard motor hearse and/or bearers on the day of the funeral, these services are available to you subject to an additional charge per item.

****Collection outside our normal working hours, will be subject to our standard out of hours transportation fee of £250.

Classic Private Cremation (Direct Cremation)

Our classic private cremation (also known as direct cremation) is without service, ceremony or mourners; however, you can be certain that our level of service and the care of your relative or friend, remains of the highest standard.

This modest, fixed cremation is inclusive of all necessary disbursements and is particularly popular with those who plan to memorialise their loved one at a later date.

We can also help you at a later date, with the organisation of a Memorial Service. If this is something you might consider, please ask us for details.

Simple Funeral – Burial or Cremation

Our Simple Funeral is affordable, easy to arrange and will ensure your loved one receives a smart and dignified burial or cremation at an extremely favourable price. The Simple Funeral is one of our most popular funerals.

Our Simple Funeral Includes:

• Our professional fees; advice, support, organisation of all legal documentation, attending to all necessary arrangements, overseeing and directing the funeral
• Advice on registration and coroner’s procedures
• Advice on DWP Social Fund claims
• Transportation of the deceased from within West Yorkshire* into our Chapel of Rest at any time of day or night, on any day of the year
• Care and preparation of the deceased
• Traditional coffin with gold or silver fittings suitable for burial or cremation
• White satin gown
• Silk flower coffin spray
• Transportation by hearse from our Chapel of Rest to an address provided by you, then onto the funeral service venue and finally to a local cemetery or crematorium
• Funeral Director and bearers (if required) on the day of the funeral

• Religious Minister, Celebrant or Officiant, to conduct the funeral service

• Shipment of the cremated remains to you (if required)

• Hearse and one limousine to collect you from your home address or other location to the funeral service, then to the committal ceremony and finally to the funeral reception venue

We specialise in the provision of domestic and international repatriation services and the transportation of ashes, which means we can help you with everything you need to get your loved one anywhere within the United Kingdom or around the world.

Our expertise in the field of funeral repatriation ensures you receive a caring and professional service throughout the entire process - you will also find that our prices are extremely competitive too.

Not only will we arrange flights and transportation, we will also handle all necessary documentation and liaise with the embassy, consulate and/or insurance company on your behalf.

Repatriation doesn't have to mean that a funeral service cannot be held here first. Many of our repatriation clients choose to arrange a funeral service in the UK before their love-one travels. If this is something you'd like or if you'd prefer a memorial service at a later date, we'd be delighted to help you.

A memorial service is a ceremony that memorialises the memory of a person, after their burial or cremation has taken place. Much like our Personalised Funeral Services, our Memorial Services are individually priced and are bespoke. We will work closely with you to ensure that every last detail is in place to beautifully reflect the life of the person you have lost.

Our Memorial Service perfectly complements our Classic Private Cremation service - although you don’t have to have used our services before to benefit from this service. We’ll work with you to design the memorial, so you’ll always be in control of the cost. Ask your Gooding funeral arranger about:
